Passing the night........

spiral
why wait
this is
the perfect time
to carry out
our plan
walk
down the stairs
everything
will be
waiting for you
in infinity.

punish
the quiet
feels good now
object to object
portion drawn
this cold feast
save the richest
for last
and hang them
high in
the meadow
where there
is no god.

pears in a meadow
if memory serves
I've never been
enough
you retreated
often
and without fail
limiting me
to what used to
appear as your charms
but now I know
all of what
you spoiled
glen after glen.

last times
put your arms
around me
draw me in
tight
press your lips
upon mine
the chill
from the room
empty
i carry your coat
across the floor
tighten my dance shoes
and twirl once more.

charlie
there isn't a call
a complete speech
of servitude
for all
there is just
me lass
walking crooked
down the hall
grab me a drink
a scotch if you
would please
and follow
me in
for the story
of yer life
after the fire's dead
and the sot fallen
from the heart
of my child's bed
I'll tiptoe through
the sparrow and
fall down
near supper
in that old
swamp water ground
send me your postcards
of all your plans
and feats
and trophies
just the same
I'll share them
with those rebels
without a heaven
without a hell
who emptied
their pockets
soared straight
from Big Sur
into turbulent waters
waving back
and laughing
settling into the wet
and sticky sand
and slide in'
pouring feet
first
I never saw
him hold his breath
that day
we told him not
to do it
but he walked away
flipping his tie
into the Atlantic
and gaining speed
towards his destination
unknown by all
who rose that day
to their computer
screens
but he had made
the right choice
the wind is high
tonight the world
is a factory
running like a
skill
running like a
blueprint set a'flame
have you eaten yet?
he asks
she shakes her head
do you like Korean?
I never had it before-
I'll have to trust you-
he smiles
with the upper hand
given to him
by the departure
of a great man
someone to whom he
depended upon.
The train
comes at five
best be on it
watch the
empty seat
through the window
that is your
window
that is your
seat
there ain't nobody
to make you
stop now
run for the seat
and protect the
bursting delight
of the moon.

Nip
multi-wheat bread
peanut butter
butter slightly softened
tea
touching the tip
of your tongue
on cold winter nights
when all we had
all we ever have
are each other
this is
the quiet
and still
it is
the beat
of my
heart
and all
complexities
along
its path
stirring
in sugar
the drum
clicks
hard and slow
as if a pin
the spoon
settles down
on granite
I do not hear
it drop
only
the whisper
of my name
pleasant
and placed
takes me
far removed
towards droves
of trees
pressed pine
ears to
the ground
slumber before
the day breaks
silk.

bank
Place
that which is
delicate
into a bowl
I'll wait
time means nothing
for me
I do not
grow old
and wrinkled
I stay
the same
as now
take
your time
and think
what makes
you happy
draw from
those memories
of long ago
I see them now
once you were smiling
and it was
not filled
with caution
you were happy
it meant something
to you
to close
your eyes
and whisper
something
beautiful
creature comforts
the warmest
of days
pass
wink
and
grin
laugh
I'll protect
what you have
I'll keep
this bowl
safe
it shall never
break
I'll remember
when you need
to look through it
again
lost soul
stuck in a maze
of lush green
grass
and pointed
pits of
delicate flowers
I'll know
when
the door needs
to be opened
to flood
it all back in
bitter bite
drip
drop
soar
I promise
to keep
your home
strong
to believe
more than
you will
to hold your
hand
until the moment
passes
and then to
release
again.

monsters live here
they hide
with their

perspectives
they climb walls
and cut chains

keeping time

close your eyes.

Sea
I dream of you
now
your eyes
pouring blue
pebbles in a pond
the fish
press their fins
to the top
I am never there
I am never here
only a memory
of what once was
soft and secret
a clue left
in a field
of gold daisies
in a broken patch
of wild
green
spoken for
by no one
alone
swept by
the current
waiting for
your ship
to return

space
alone
the breaking
I wonder
what is wrong
-me-with no one
to place
their arms about me
to touch me
in the growing cold
I made the rain
white walls
that fall
into empty seasons
picking peaches
with machine
made hands
I crawl
on the ground
and begin
to search
for life
why am I
so hard
to love?

the moon
agrees
that I am
lost to this

give me

go wild
with abandon

recklessness
sparkle in

like no other
ever in my sight
so that
in my darkest hour
I will draw
from the memories
of you
and smile once more
before the hands of death
take me
and make me-his.

when the wind
whips harsh
at my window
and plays
with my hair
oh yes

burn them down
shut their eyes
and gore them out
with a sharp stick
beat them
until they are dead
and all
that remains
is the

of their

For...........

Fish
I wish for you
more than
the beating
of my own heart
or the rise
and fall
of my lungs
in mid breath
staring into
your eyes
I realize
the purpose
to everyone
and
to everything
I surround myself
with the beauty
that are your arms
and nestle
into a dark kingdom.

pauses
those desperate
(for claws)
root out
the flesh laid still
vulnerable in flight
their wings cut crisp
burning eyes
so careless
a creation
the gasps of air
fill
and
flood
in a panic
recognized
only as
sleep
sheep
fall.

Copy
mimicking
your movements
your voice
in my head
that slight accent
the choices
of your words
make me gather
my sinking heart
and pull it ashore
from the wind
swept currents
there isn't
enough time
to say everything
to do everything
to be with
always
in the midst
of this
our restless world

Moby
I regret nothing
only hope
to see
to feel
to hear
the pounding
of your

heart
typing furiously
in my head
tell me all
everything
I have the
rest of my life
to learn

as sparks
begin to flood
my brain
and the world
secretly comes
to an end.

Brand new......

Tattoo
There are angels there
amongst the ruins
closed off
from the fragile
eye
mirrors
and
paperweights
sip Earl Grey
through
wine glasses
on short
dark
foggy days
where the light
shines bright enough
to see the smile
on your face

Sugar
How I wish
for a more attentive
you
for someone
who thought
that I was
as amazing
as you are
someone
who wasn't afraid
to tell me
how he felt
or how beautiful
I was
I never stop
hoping
that this will come
true

Collect
Forget
that you
are standing
at this place
in time
Forget
that I know you
oh so many years ago
Forget
how many times you promised
or stopped
the small lies
that we tell each other
everyday
keeps our minds calm
so we can forget
that you stopped loving me
years ago
seated
at a table
on a cool night
in Autumn

Notebooks
sleep takes time
curled up
in a world
of one's own
the salt
and pepper shakers
evenly shaped and spread
out
on the neat kitchen table
the soap hand
that grabs the salt
and pours finite
on the wood
until the space is full
collapses their head
in comfort
of collecting

Save
soft
the word looks like
what it defines
the touchable
person
sweet without the sour
but i lost
the physical touch
a long time ago
before
you never looked
at me
the same
how quiet
i bleed
in this room
alone
the sinking ship
the sinking heart
falling at beats
unimaginable

Price
Turn
(the small space)
picked over
loose down
in swampy water
mud settles
to the bottom
all the unknown
keeps calm
quick
rush
against the rising tide
forget
who I am
so that you can
love me again
turn over
the fish
pour wine

Evaporate
how my heart
beats for you
not easy
not rushed
but soaring
out of the coal
swept away
by the bringer
of light
plunged
and poured
meddlesome creatures
into the warm
body of the dead
hold my hand

Disease
I am afraid
of desks
in a straight line
of ringing telephones
waiting to be
answered
of the mundane
of being lost
in normal land
of the pointless life
trickling out
of my veins
for money
per hour
please...
don't
let
me
fail.

kick
the day
and dead
holding on
when do you know
that you
are dying?
when do you
give up
and just refuse
to breath in
the air around you
to take in
anything good
when does
the point of
being alive
become lost
and you
naive
for thinking
that eventually
things will
get better
when do you
admit defeat
the battle ended
the weary
that never rose
the wave
of hope
and success
that never danced
within your bones
you were never
the best
how do you tell
yourself
when to jump
fall
cut
overdose
shoot
stop
the
pain
because
here
it comes
again
with rages
of rejection
the fallen hero
break his ribs

Shaking
Visiting
-that special place-
where nothing exists
but the air
that travels
fast and slow
the weight
of the world
breaks
crisp and clean
reborn
nestled from
an invisible
womb
to the world
a beating
heart

Cross my heart
How often
drifting
to that lonely place
where the imagination
keeps
appearing before me
the creations
my friends
and enemies
and loved ones
reminding me
to keep writing
about them
to not forget
I wave
and promise.

Engaged
cold
tingling
white walls
the cellar door
open
the clinging of glasses
warm water
from a salty rag
the sponge
wiping it all away
a hesitation to act
and then the tension
grows
first flaccid
then hard
lingering against
the rising snow

breeze
Let
the however
happen
the needless
and the want....less
remembrances
of the day
flood vision
and meander
across a broken
wilderness
where the
ragged
meet
the rough
smooth stones
of a lake
worn down
by time

poison
watchful
however merciful
wicked (are the ways)
-stealing kisses-
behind a sidewalk
bench
outlining paper dolls
their heads laying
swaying silently
in a row
stripping them if
their bond
(the unity of arms and hands)
and holding them up
against the tall fire
to burn through
before the dawn breaks

Passing.........

Success
whispered
into the world
the bright
yellow
ribbons
of burden
we carry
piles of rocks
up
the
long
lonely
hill
only to have
them fall
back down

Pasture
The crawl
over and over
marching towards
the deaf
the entryway
clear
of debris
clipping towards
the restless water
fingers flash
turn palm up
       palm down
crashing broken
lights before
the steam
bulbs of flowers
newly born
just waiting
to die.

Heal
the point
caught in
brisk paint
held black
and blue
over cursive
words
rambles of
(i love you).

Wings
Bring him back
across
my arms
floating in a web
of thick
gentle cotton
support the
kindness of
his heart
make peace.

Locker
kiss
the tongue
leaning
circling
over and over
hands pressed
paused
and collapsed
against waves
of schoolyard
grief
planted by
the road
seeds of
want
of need
of desire
of lust
struggling
to breath

Sunset
nerve
shot
sinking into
that deep sand
where glass grows
the twisted
leather
pulls open skin
draw your gun

Misery
Dissolved
into the heat
sink sour
rolls of air
sweet out
the guilt
in waves
of oceans
deep
